AND WHILE I HAVE YOUR EAR bent, WHAT IS THE MATTER WITH EVERYONE!?!?! We`re going to have a helluva party in three months!! Thanks to all who are Blogging…I can lay the party out for you, YOU have to get things rolling amongst yourselves! One last subject….we are going to have an informal BBQ the weekend after the 4th of July. Everyone is welcome…Unfortunately, Chris and Lorra Chagares (who are hosting this website) cannot make the Reunion…SO….I thought it would be nice for those locals to come out and show a little appreciation for all they`ve done, and have like a mini-Reunion Warm-up. All I know about Pat Langner is that he is Coach Pat Langner’s son. Coach Langner was the head coach at Meigs while both my older sister and I were there (73-78). The Langners lived on the road in Shalimar that goes from Meigs along the bayou and exits onto Eglin Parkway behind the Shalimar Post Office. I believe that area is now built up with condos, but back in the day it was old “cracker-box” houses on the side of the road opposite of the water. Coach Langner’s house was the first one after you left the Meigs parking lot. I hope this helps.

Pat contacted me about 5 years ago when I was stationed in Pensacola writing advancement exams for the Navy. He was working for Coca Cola out of Birmingham or Montgomery as a major distributor for the south east. I lost contact with him in 2003 when I was deployed for Operation Iraqi Freedom.

I remember those days at Meigs when Coach Langner used to whip our a****. I sure had fun playing football back then (even though we never won a game). It was a great experience. What have you been up to?? Do you remember a coach named Bill Brightenback???

I’ll be in town this weekend. Friday evening until Tuesday morning. I’ll try to make it next weekend also, but it will depend on my work schedule. I’d like to get together and do a little catching up and some partying. My parents still live in Shalimar, so I visit them a couple times a month just to make sure they are behaving theirselves.

Yes, I remember Coach Brightenback! We hid from him one day at track practice. Missed a day of practice and paid for it the next day! I still tell people about Coach Langner. After football season ended, he would throw a soccor ball out on the field and leave us to it for our hour of “gym”. He would just disappear and after an hour, tell us to dress in and get to class. My kids think that is really funny.
I remember the day we hid from him. We all went to the old weight room in the old cement bleachers. Man was he pissed!!!!
