Walter James Voytek, II, better known as Jim by his family and friends, passed away and went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at age 58. A native of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Jim graduated from Choctawhatchee High School as part of the Class of 1981.
Building his first computer in his teens, Jim, at a young age, became a pioneer in the technology and computer industry. Jim made his dream a reality when he became the founder and CEO of HealthWare Corporation in 1986. Celebrating the Company’s 35th anniversary this July, HealthWare provides software solutions for home health, hospice, personal care, and private duty agencies of all sizes. He loved HealthWare, his dedicated employees, and all his clients. He worked endless hours to make HealthWare what it is today. There are no words that will ever be able to express the gratitude Kathi feels for Jim’s employees and clients during this difficult time. The love and dedication from his employees, clients, and business associates/friends that have been shown to Kathi are such a tribute to the dedication and love Jim had for all of them.
As an author of three books, Jim never stopped researching, reading, and learning about technology. With his servant’s heart, Jim shared his love for computers by helping local businesses, communities, church groups, friends, and family in increasing their efficiency and knowledge when working with technology.
Jim was a devoted and loving husband to his wife of twenty-one years, Kathi Pope Voytek, better known to most people as “his pumpkin”. Jim was happiest when he was by his bride’s side, even if it meant being at Auburn on football weekends. Their love for each other was infinite! They had known each other since high school and were truly soul mates! They spent many days together traveling throughout Europe and the United States, spending time with friends and family and attending Formula One racing events. Besides his huge love for God; his Bride; HealthWare; and friends and family; Jim had a true love and passion for cooking. Jim and Kathi enjoyed many evenings with friends as Jim would prepare the next exquisite meal for all of them to enjoy. Jim and Kathi’s Ramer Methodist Church family and the Grady/Ramer community have been an absolute gift from God. The outpour of love from this “family” has been more than words could ever describe.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Kathi, and their dear cat, Poopus, who Jim loved and spoiled. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Martha and David Galliher. He is survived by his sister Tracie Ireland (Martin), stepsister Sandy Ficarra (Alan), his stepmother Connie Voytek, and many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, other family members, and close friends. Jim was predeceased by his grandmother, Jimmie Steadham, his father, Walter James Voytek, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Don and Mary Pope.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, August 1, 2021, at Ramer Methodist Church in Ramer, Alabama. There are no words to express Kathi’s thanks and gratitude to her immediate family members; close dear friends; Ramer Methodist Church family; the community of Grady/Ramer, Alabama; HealthWare Corporation’s employees and clients; Kathi’s work family at Encompass Home Health and Hospice of Troy, AL, and the First Responders and Emergency Personnel in Montgomery County, Alabama for all of the love and support shown to her during this difficult time. Thank you, and may God bless you and keep you in His loving arms!
