Mr. Kenneth Eugene Mundy, age 50, passed away unexpectedly on March 30, 2014.
Ken was born to Edward and Peggy Mundy in Bangkok, Thailand, on Sept. 11, 1963.
Ken graduated from Choctaw High School in 1981. Ken graduated from the University of South Florida in 1987 and quickly found a job serving our country as an Electrical engineer for the Civil Service. He worked on many interesting projects at FMS in Robin Air Force Base and the 53rd Wing, 46 TWS and SPO at Eglin Air Force Base. He developed many lasting friendships with his co-workers and will be dearly missed.
Ken loved technical gadgets, with a particular fondness for all things Apple. He thoroughly enjoyed his motorcycle and was a certified motorcycle safety instructor. He was a recipient of the Iron Butt award for having covered 1000 miles in 24 hours. He often took week-long journeys discovering our beautiful country, particularly through our many State and National Parks.
Ken is survived by his loving wife of nearly 30 years, Manivanh; a son, Andrew Mundy, of San Francisco, Calif.; and a daughter, Michelle Mundy, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla. He was extremely proud of the two outstanding young adults they have become. He is also survived by his three brothers, Lawrence Mundy (Debbie) of Shalimar, Fla., Stephen Mundy (Sara) of Knoxville, Tenn., and Robert Mundy (Klaire) of Roanoke, Va. He leaves behind Mr. and Mrs. Somchith, his wife’s parents, who he was very close to. Also left behind are three brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, along with a number of nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2014, 6 to 8 p.m., at Emerald Coast Funeral Home, 113 Racetrack Rd, Fort Walton Beach. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m., on Friday April 4, 2014, at Shalimar United Methodist, 1 Old Ferry Road Shalimar, Fla.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to either P.A.W.S. or S.O.C.K.S. to support neglected and injured animals, another passion Ken held.
